Consumption helps in poverty alleviation
    2021-09-17  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

OVER 150 agricultural products transported from Longlin, an autonomous county in Guangxi, were recently sold at a special trade fair held in Qingshuihe, Luohu District, Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported.

The promotional event was part of Qingshuihe’s move to help Longlin County alleviate poverty through consumption.

“The passion fruits grown in Longlin are so sweet and of good quality. I will share it with my neighbors and we can support poverty alleviation there,” said a woman surnamed Fang, a Qingshuihe resident.

The total sales volume during the two-day shopping event exceeded 300,000 yuan (US$46,500), according to the Daily report.

Since 2018, Qingshuihe Subdistrict has helped Yanwan Village in Pingban Town, Longlin to promote the plantation and sale of passion fruits. It is said that with the supporting project, the impoverished villagers achieved an average annual income of 20,000 yuan.
