Moon Festival carnival in Shekou

A Mid-Autumn Festival carnival is scheduled to be held Friday night in Shekou.

The event will present various joyful stalls, where visitors can appreciate traditional Chinese handicrafts, including sugar paintings, silhouette portraits, Chinese traditional knots, paper-cutouts, clay figurines and sugar-figure art. The sightseers can also have a taste of a traditional Chinese snack, skewers of glazed fruit, as well as cotton candy.

Visitors can open “mystery boxes” and taste mooncakes with suprising flavors at the Imperial Kitchen of the Moon Palace stall and enjoy folk music performances. A Q&A session on the history of the Communist Party of China will be held for people to learn more about the Party.

Visitors who follow the official WeChat or Douyin account of NSIC (Nanshan International Cultural Exchange & Service Center) can enter the fair free of admission. To avoid crowds and let more people to participate in games, visitors are suggested not to stay at a stall for too long.

The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as Moon Festival, is to celebrate the harvest and reunion. It is held on the 15th day of the eighth Chinese lunar month during the full moon.
