Drama festival delights primary students
    2021-09-22  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Students at Haibin Experimental Primary School in Nanshan District were delighted by traditional Chinese puppet shows, which is one of the intangible cultural heritages in China, at the recent 10th Shenzhen Children’s Drama Festival.

It is the first time for the drama festival to be held at schools in response to the implementation of the nationwide “double-reduction policy,” which focuses on easing student’s burden and enriching their campus life.

During the three-month drama festival, students at the primary school can appreciate a total of 16 revolution and fairy tale-themed puppet shows staged by Shenzhen Children’s Art Troupe and other art troupes from across the country and get in touch with some awe-inspiring traditional puppet skills including plate spinning, flame breathing and face changing.

Featuring the promotion and inheritance of traditional Chinese culture and revolutionary spirits, the drama festival kicked off on September 13 and will involve around 10 drama troupes from across the country and will stage more than 20 performances both online and offline as well as present other relevant drama education activities including lectures, workshops, contests and more.

The drama festival is hosted by the Shenzhen Children’s Drama Research Association and organized by the Shenzhen Children’s Art Troupe.

The troupe states that it will join hands with more local schools to introduce more drama events to the campus in the future, in order to better implement the “double-reduction policy” and promote the all-round development of students.
