Parks see 1.11 million visits during holiday

PARKS across the city saw a total of 1.11 million visits from tourists during the three-day Mid-Autumn Festival holiday which ended Tuesday, according to the information released by the Shenzhen Municipal Urban Administration and Law Enforcement Bureau.

Yantian Central Park saw 126,000 visitors, Shenzhen Bay Park with 105,000, OH Bay with 76,000, Lianhua Hill Park with 51,800 and Guanlan Wuzhipa Forest Park with 49,000.

The city’s total passenger volume, which includes roadways, railways, airways and waterways, was 2.22 million, with some 740,400 passengers a day arriving in or departing Shenzhen, sources from the city’s transport bureau said.

Railway travel remained the first choice for travelers, accounting for 80.44 percent of the four preferred transport modes.

Shekou Cruise Homeport saw nearly 4,000 passengers each day from Sunday to Tuesday, 1.5 times that of its normal daily passenger flow. The port added 17 ferries during the holiday to meet increasing traveler demand.

On Tuesday, the Mid-Autumn Festival, around 2.31 million vehicles were seen on the roads, up 16.54 percent from last year, according to the Shenzhen traffic police.

During the holiday, approximately 234,900 vehicles left the city while about 324,200 entered the city. The number of vehicles coming to the city increased compared to last year.

No large-scale or regional traffic congestion was seen during the holiday.  (Wang Jingli)
