NEARLY 100 guests from home and abroad attended the Seminar on Strengthening the Capability of International Communication at the Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center in Bao’an District on Friday.

The seminar was one of the key events of the 17th China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair (ICIF) that is scheduled to wrap up today. It was hosted by China International Culture Communication Center and Shenzhen International Cultural Industries Fair Co. Ltd.

Long Yuxiang, executive chairman of China International Culture Communication Center, and Wang Yuejun, general manager of Shenzhen News Group and chairman of the National Base for International Cultural Trade (Shenzhen), attended the seminar. Seven experts from Hong Kong, Macao and the mainland delivered speeches.

Zeng Yijing, the Shenzhen representative of Hong Kong Trade Development Council, explained through examples how those in Hong Kong’s film and television circles can get involved in telling better stories about China and Chinese enterprises to the outside world.

Ding Xiao, chairperson of the Macao Cultural Promotion Association, said that Macao will continue to integrate various advantageous resources, strengthen cultural cooperation between Shenzhen and Macao, and jointly promote industrial and commercial prosperity and progress in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) with other parties.

“Different countries can often find common topics in museums, and museums have become an important place for diplomatic activities,” said Chen Lyusheng, curator of the museum of the University of Science and Technology of China and former deputy curator of the National Museum of China.

Chen pointed out that we should not only pay attention to contemporary means and use 5G and other advanced technologies in international communication, but also acknowledge the role of large museums prevalent in various cities.

“Museums with a history of more than 300 years can become an important platform in international communication, and international communication can also help the development of museums,” Chen said in his speech.

Xu Jie, dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at the University of Macao, said that a key point of international communication capacity is language. “The Chinese language is not only the wealth of the Chinese people, but also the wealth of mankind.”

Xu believes that it is of great significance to improve the Chinese language’s international status and promote its internationalization level.
