Arts and crafts reveal rich cultural tradition

COVERING an area of 20,000 square meters, the Arts & Crafts•Creative Living Hall located in Hall 11 of the main venue for the 17th China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair (ICIF) is displaying thousands of exquisite and novel arts and crafts pieces in 32 categories to provide visitors a feast for the eyes.

Showstopping exhibits, both local and international, include finely designed jade and silver jewelry, traditional ink stones and wood carvings, and fashionable knitwear and textile.

“There are so many exquisite handicrafts for the eyes to take in. It’s really a dazzling display,” a visitor surnamed Zhong told Shenzhen Daily.

A total of seven exhibition areas have been set up in the hall, including an exhibition featuring the works of the nation’s 100 Chinese arts and crafts masters, the Guangdong Province Arts and Crafts Masters Exhibition, the Zhejiang Province Pearl Industry Exhibition and the Chaozhou arts and crafts exhibition.

The Chaozhou delegation has brought nearly 200 novel, exquisite, and high-end arts and crafts pieces to this year’s fair to show the world Chaozhou’s profound cultural heritage. Their exhibit displays local embroidery, porcelain, wood carvings and other products with great artistic value.

In addition to showcasing arts and crafts, the ICIF this year has also offered a series of guidance and services for culture, arts and technology dissemination, and lifestyle choices.

For instance, mahogany furniture exhibitors provide references for various home decor when making a sale. At the same time, exhibitors are also encouraged to display arts and crafts pieces with aesthetic and practical value, as well as environmental protection value, brand value, exchange and transaction value, and collection value.
