THE Shenzhen Municipal Commerce Bureau, Shenzhen Municipal Foreign Affairs Office and the China–Britain Business Council (CBBC) convened the U.K. Business Dialogue with the Shenzhen Municipal Government on Thursday.

The joint meeting was intended to build a communication platform between British companies and the Shenzhen government, improve problem solving efficiency and provide supporting policies for the U.K.- invested firms in Shenzhen. Nearly 100 people attended the meeting, including officials from related governmental departments and British company representatives.

During the conference, the government introduced the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area’s (GBA) business environment. Several representatives from Arup, RELX Group, InterContinental Hotels, Savills, Standard Chartered and other leading British companies asked questions about industrial policies.

Yao Ren, deputy secretary general of the municipal government, said in his speech that “Shenzhen welcomes and invites British enterprises to take an active part in the development of the GBA through expanding cooperation between China and the U.K., producing win-win outcomes, and bringing quality projects and business models to Shenzhen.”

At present, there are more than 430 U.K.-invested companies in Shenzhen, with actual foreign capital used amounting to over US$1.3 billion.
