13 SZ companies excel in China’s top 500

CHINA released the list of top 500 Chinese enterprises for 2021 on Saturday, and 13 Shenzhen enterprises are among China’s top 500 companies with revenue exceeding 100 billion yuan (US$15.5 billion), demonstrating the city’s strengths in high technology, finance and advanced manufacturing.

More than 20 Shenzhen companies are among the country’s top 500 enterprises, while 13 of them, including Ping An, Huawei, China Merchants Bank, Tencent, Vanke, S.F. Holding and ZTE Corp., are among the top 222 with revenue exceeding 100 billion yuan. With seven Shenzhen companies making into the top 100 list, Ping An, which ranks fifth in the list, is the only company from Shenzhen with its revenue exceeding 1 trillion yuan.

China’s top 500 enterprises have on general showed improved business performance and better industrial structure, according to the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce.

State Grid Corp. of China topped the list, followed by China National Petroleum Corp. and the China Petroleum Chemical Corp.

The revenue threshold of the top 500 Chinese enterprises increased by 3.28 billion yuan from a year ago to 39.24 billion yuan, the data showed.

The number of companies whose revenues exceeded 100 billion yuan rose to 222, with eight of them reporting revenues of over 1 trillion yuan.

The All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce on Saturday also released the list of China’s top 500 private firms and Huawei, JD.com and Hengli Group are the top three enterprises on the list.

With a revenue of about 891.37 billion yuan, Huawei has retained the first position among the top 500 private enterprises and the top 500 manufacturing private enterprises for six consecutive years.

JD.com bagged the first spot among the top 100 private enterprises in the service industry.

The annual revenue of each of the top five private enterprises on the list exceeded 600 billion yuan.

The released data shows the vitality of China’s private sector. In 2020, the total revenue of the top 500 private enterprises was 35.12 trillion yuan, up 16.39 percent from a year ago. They paid a total tax of 1.36 trillion yuan, accounting for 8.84 percent of the national total.

The total number of employees of the top 500 private enterprises came in at 11.09 million, up 6.26 percent, accounting for 1.48 percent of the total number of employed people in China.

This is the 23rd consecutive survey of large-scale private enterprises organized by the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce. A total of 5,785 enterprises with an annual revenue of more than 500 million yuan each took part in the survey this year.(SD News)
