Technicians prepare a tunnel boring machine (TBM) for operation Friday. The 1,230-ton TBM, with a diameter of 8.83 meters, is being used for the construction of Metro Line 14’s 5,120-meter-long utility tunnel. Upon completion, the tunnel will be able to accommodate various underground pipelines such as power cables, communications cables, water pipes and natural gas pipelines, which will be highly significant in enhancing the city’s urban infrastructure modernization level.
