ATHLETES from Shenzhen helped the Guangdong team win 15 gold medals, 13 silver medals and 21 bronze medals at China’s 14th National Games.

These achievements are said to have hit a new record high.

The Guangdong basketball team (U-19), which won the title at the Games, has seven members from Shenzhen. All of them are students from Shenzhen Sports School, according to Shenzhen Economic Daily.

The Guangdong female gymnastics team has four members from Shenzhen. They are Ou Yushan, Bi Qingqing, Sun Xinyi, and Wu Ran.

Ou Yushan not only helped the team win a gold medal but also claimed women’s floor exercise gold and gymnastics individual all-around final’s silver and balance beam’s silver.

Tokyo Olympics medalist Tang Muhan from Shenzhen renewed China’s national record in the women’s 200m individual freestyle. Tang won three gold medals and two silver medals.

Chen Jun’er, another swimmer from Shenzhen, won the title in the 200m butterfly. He also won another three bronze medals in 100m butterfly, 4x100m medley relay, and 4x100m mixed medley relay.

Other gold winners from Shenzhen include Wang Qianyi (artistic swimming), Ouyang Yu (diving), Wu Luxian (diving), Zhang Yuetong (climbing), Lin Gaoyuan (table tennis), Zhang Xin (table tennis), Zhang Weiwei (golf), Liang Meiyu (hockey), Zhou Fuyi (hockey) and Tu Yuanlin (hockey).
