THE total trading volume at the Shenzhen MSU-BIT University (SMBU) subvenue of the 17th China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair (ICIF), came in at 19.27 million yuan (US$2.98 million) including on-site transactions of 700,000 yuan and intended transactions of 18.57 million yuan, said SMBU.

A closing ceremony was held Monday night at the SMBU campus in Longgang District to wrap up the events held in the subvenue.

During the ICIF that concluded Monday, SMBU welcomed around 10,000 visitors, including over 3,000 people from nearby universities and senior high schools.

SMBU has decided to extend the exhibition period of some events to last over the National Day holiday so that more citizens can experience Chinese and Russian cultures.

Residents who wish to attend these events can make a reservation via SMBU’s official WeChat account (SMBU2017).

Meanwhile, SMBU signed a memorandum of understanding on international chess cooperation with Shenzhen Juqi Education Development Corp. at the closing ceremony.

Li Hezhang, rector of SMBU, said at the ceremony that the cultural fair’s success has enhanced SMBU’s confidence to build an important platform for cultural exchanges between China and Russia.

As the only university among the 67 subvenues across the city for the cultural fair, SMBU held a total of 27 events themed “Impression Russia,” allowing visitors to have an immersive experience with Russian culture.

An art exhibition was held to showcase more than 160 Russian oil paintings, together with 35 Chinese calligraphy works given by three academicians from top Chinese universities. Students and teachers from Shenzhen Arts School were invited to stage classic Chinese and Russian musical pieces, while SMBU library hosted a rare Russian book collection show.
