According to the country’s Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, a ceremony to mark the first shipment of fuel cells for power generation was held at Doosan Fuel Cell headquarters in Iksan Industrial Complex on Monday. The four fuel cells for power generation will be exported this time are worth US$13 million and boast a total capacity is 1.8 MW. The exported cells will be installed as a distributed power source in Foshan, Guangdong Province, China, and will supply electricity, cooling and heating heat to seven apartments (400 households) and one commercial building. This is the first case of South Korea’s export of fuel cells for power generation. An official from South Korea’s Ministry of Industry said: “The export this time is meaningful in that South Korea preoccupies the hydrogen fuel cell market, which is expected to expand worldwide due to the trend of carbon neutrality and revitalization of the hydrogen economy.” The South Korean government has provided policy supports to boost the fuel cell industry ecosystem. |
