Huge waves caused by Typhoon Kompasu break on the shore along the Meilisha Road in Haikou, capital city of South China’s island province Hainan, yesterday. Kompasu, the 18th typhoon of this year, made landfall in Hainan yesterday afternoon. The typhoon landed on the coast of Boao Township in the city of Qionghai at 3:30 p.m., packing winds of up to 118.8 km per hour, according to the Hainan meteorological service.  Xinhua
