Meteor lands on pillow inches from woman’s head
    2021-10-14  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A WOMAN is lucky to be alive after a meteor crashed through the roof and landed on a pillow just “inches from her head.”

Ruth Hamilton was awoken by a loud bang but she couldn’t figure out where the noise had come from — then she realized she was covered in dust and there was a hole in her ceiling.

She then looked back to the bed and found there was a fist-sized rock lying on her pillow, having crashed through the roof and landing right next to where her head had been, as the Daily Star reports.

In a panic, Hamilton, from British Columbia, Canada, called the police who investigated — and soon it was determined that the rock was actually a meteor — and was potentially billions of years old.

Speaking to Castlegar News, Hamilton said: “We called the Canyon project to see if they were doing any blasting and they weren’t, but they did say they had seen a bright light in the sky that had exploded and caused some booms.

“I was shaking and scared when it happened. I thought someone had jumped in or it was a gun or something. It’s almost a relief when we realized it could only have fallen out of the sky.”

Hamilton says she’s “totally amazed” that a rock from space that could potentially be “billions of years old” landed on her pillow.

Hamilton contacted her insurers to see if she could get some help repairing the damage to her roof.

She says they’d told her they had never had a claim like this before and would need to visit her home to assess the damage before confirming that she was covered. (SD-Agencies)
