The image sensor, which plays a role of “eyes” in various IT devices such as smartphone cameras, currently sees fierce competition between Sony and Samsung Electronics. A latecomer in the image sensor market, SK Hynix aims to boost its research and development capabilities and productivity to lead the higher high-pixel image sensor market. “The contact image sensor [CIS] will be one of the important sectors of SK Hynix’s growth area and our next goal is to achieve a leading position in the CIS business,” said SK Hynix’s CIS business vice president Song Chang-rok. |
