This Friday, Taiwanese pianist Hu Ching-yun will play a night of Liszt’s pieces: “The Fountains at the Villa d’Este,” “Three Concert Studies, S144,” “Spanish Rhapsody” and six lieders arranged for piano. Hu is recognized and acclaimed worldwide for her dazzling technique, deeply probing musicality, and directly communicative performance style. She studied at the Juilliard School, the Cleveland Institute of Music and the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media. After winning the 2008 Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Competition, she won the 2009 Concert Artists Guild International Competition in New York. In the following seasons, she performed in many prestigious concert halls around the world. She is an artist-in-residence and on the piano faculty at Temple University in Philadelphia.
