SZU unveils campus fitness program for all
    2021-10-20  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Shenzhen University (SZU) officially launched its campus fitness program “Healthy Liyuan Sports Plan” that is open to all students.

The launching ceremony took place on October 12, at SZU’s international convention hall, which was attended by Zhang Xiaohong, vice president of SZU, Tan Lihong, Party secretary of the Shenzhen Sports School, as well as student and athlete representatives.

The fitness program, which encourages all the students to participate, features exercise therapy courses, sports competitions and swimming classes, dutenews.com reported. The fitness program aims to motivate students to be active in physical exercise by building a favorable environment for students to do sports.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Zhang noted that “campus sports are an important part of quality education.” She also called on all the students and faculty members to do sports every day.

According to Wang Dong, deputy director of SZU’s Sports Department, the program is primarily open to freshmen in 2021 (both undergraduates and post-graduates) and also welcomes other students to participate.

Wang added that the program will be carried out in three phases. In the first phase, students are required to take part in running, walking and rope skipping activities; in the second phase, the school will organize sports competitions in order to involve groups of students and to stimulate their interests in exercises; in the third phase, the school will provide students with professional consultation services in physical and mental health improvement.
