City to begin work on three intercity rails
    2021-10-26  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE city will start work on three intercity rails linking with Huizhou and Dongguan before the end of this year, according to a construction cost report recently released by the Shenzhen Municipal Development and Reform Commission at its official website.

The report showed the construction on the Shenzhen section of the Shenzhen-Daya Bay Intercity Railway, Shenzhen-Huizhou Intercity Railway’s Longgang-Dapeng Spur Line and Guangzhou-Dongguan-Shenzhen Intercity Railway’s Qianhai-Huanggang section will cost about 116.9 billion yuan (US$18.32 billion). The three sections in Shenzhen are around 132.7 kilometers long in total.

The Shenzhen section of the Shenzhen-Daya Bay Intercity Rail will have 11 stations and connect with four high-speed rails, 20 Metro rails and five intercity rails. The 69-kilometer section starts from Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport and ends at Pingshan. The trip between the airport and Pingshan will be cut down to 40 minutes.

The Longgang-Dapeng spur line will run 39.3 kilometers, passing Longgang CBD, Pingshan CBD, Yanzi Lake and Dapeng areas. It will have six stations and will cut the trip from Dapeng to Qianhai and the airport’s T4 to one hour.

The Qianhai-Huanggang section of Guangzhou-Dongguan-Shenzhen Intercity Rail will travel underground for 23.4 kilometers, passing Shenzhen Bay Super Headquarters Base in Nanshan and ending at Huanggang Checkpoint in Futian.

The plan also states that the three lines will be completed and put into operation in 2026. Residents can send their suggestions about the intercity railways’ construction budget plan to liubo@fgw.sz.gov.cn by Nov. 15, according to the commission.  (Han Ximin)
