RUBEN MATO ALONSO, a Spanish entrepreneur who set up a company in Qianhai in 2015, said he has witnessed Qianhai’s tremendous development and change over the past six years, and he is expecting to serve as the area’s bridge between China and Europe.

Alonso has been living in Shenzhen for 11 years. He said his entrepreneurial story in the city is largely connected to Qianhai.

“My company was established in Chiwan, which was just a wharf, and the surrounding area was not really developed at that time. Since then, Qianhai’s development went on a fast track and so many high-rises have been built, which attracted a number of headquarters enterprises to settle in the area,” Alonso said, adding that Qianhai’s success is the epitome of China’s successful development story.

“In recent years, Qianhai has rolled out and updated many new policies for entrepreneurs. With the release of its new development plan last month, Qianhai has included Bao’an’s coastal areas and will introduce more international schools and financial institutions in the future, which will make Qianhai a bridge between China and the world,” Alonso said.

In his eyes, Qianhai symbolizes the opening up of China’s financial industry, which allows him to do business more conveniently. In addition to importing wine, Alonso also provides financial consulting services to foreign enterprises that intend to invest in China and vice versa.

“Doing business in Qianhai makes me feel safe,” he said. “When I have legal disputes with other enterprises, the Qianhai Cooperation Zone People’s Court can always help me efficiently solve problems. The staff members of the court can speak many different languages and are professional in their legal expertise. I feel quite satisfied with their services and that is very important for foreign enterprises doing businesses in China.”
