Luohu plans two high-speed railway hubs
    2021-11-04  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

SHENZHEN Railway Station in Luohu District and Luohu North Railway Station will be built into high-speed railway hubs, according to Luohu’s 14th Five-Year Plan regarding transportation released by the Shenzhen Municipal Transport Bureau recently.

Shenzhen Railway Station will connect with Ganzhou-Shenzhen and Xiamen-Shenzhen high-speed railways. And Luohu North Railway Station will be a transport hub integrating the future Shenzhen-Shenshan High-speed Railway, the under-construction Metro Line 14, and lines 17 and 25, which are under planning, according to the plan.

Luohu North Railway Station has been included into the city’s 44 underground spaces for key development and will be a high-quality and high-standard new-type comprehensive and demonstrative transport hub.

Shenzhen Railway Station will be upgraded and incorporated into the national high-speed railway network through building railway links with Ganzhou-Shenzhen and Xiamen-Shenzhen high-speed railways. Luohu District will try to extend Metro Line 11 to Shenzhen Railway Station and reserve the station’s function to further connect with Hong Kong’s East Line.

The railway operator completed Guangzhou-Shenzhen Railway’s signal upgrading in September last year, enabling Shenzhen Railway Station to join the national high-speed railway network.

During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025), Luohu will try to include extensions of Line 9 to Luofang and Line 24 to Buxin into the city’s Metro network construction adjustment plan.

By 2025, travelers from central Luohu can reach Pingshan, Daya Bay and Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport in 30 minutes; Dongguan and Huizhou in 45 minutes; and other central areas of the cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, like Guangzhou, Zhongshan and Zhuhai, in an hour.

In another development, Luosha Road will be renovated by building an underground passage to link Luofang Overpass in the west with Shenzhen-Yantian Second Passage in the east. After renovation, traffic capacity between Luohu and Yantian will be increased by 65 percent.

In terms of public transportation, the authority is planning an elevated slow traffic bridge linking Yinhu and Taojin hills, and a footbridge corridor linking Weiling and Donghu parks. It will choose seven locations, including Grand Theater and Huangbeiling stations, to pilot a micro-hub program integrating Metro and bus stations for transport, and parks and slow traffic system for relaxation and leisure.

The city will also construct 24 vertical parking facilities and explore ways for vehicles to park under elevated bridges to solve parking woes.  (Han Ximin)
