The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen (CUHK-SZ) held a graduation ceremony for its sixth batch of postgraduate students on Saturday morning on its campus in Longgang District.

A total of 728 postgraduate students including 718 master students and 10 Ph.D. students successfully graduated from CUHK-SZ this year. The ceremony was simultaneously held online.

Most of the graduate students got job offers from renowned companies, schools and research institutes in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Beijing and Shanghai, such as China Development Bank, Tencent, Huawei, and ByteDance.

Some students will further their studies at prominent universities at home and abroad including the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Tsinghua University and the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Xu Yangsheng, president of CUHK-SZ, urged students to be brave as this trait will help them see opportunities ignored by others, even when facing obstacles. Meanwhile, Xu emphasized four things that are very important in the whole life, specifically learning, thinking, practicing and getting insights from practice.

Meanwhile, it was announced at the ceremony that 10 students won the excellent postgraduate students award.

Wang Shi, director of Vanke Foundation, stressed the role of reading in his speech.“Many of my decisions and entrepreneurship ideas were inspired by my reading experience…Don’t be afraid of your shortcomings. Treat them seriously and try to live with them and then you will have new discoveries,” said Wang.
