Second-generation Shenzhen writer’s new book well received
    2021-11-10  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Shi Xiaohan, a writer and second-generation Shenzhener, released her new book “The Infinity” this July. With an exquisite style of writing and sharing of the author’s personal life stories, the book has gained great popularity among a number of high school students in Shenzhen.

“The Infinity” is one of Shi’s trilogy which includes other two books “Clouds in the Blue Sky Water in the Bottle” and “The Food in My Hometown and Europe.”

Recently students and teachers at Grit Academy in Longhua District held a seminar to study Shi’s trilogy. Zhang Feixiang, an instructor for the school’s Heyu Changfeng Literature Club, said the author adopted a unique angle to share her own experiences of overseas study in France and travel experiences around Europe, which convey a poetic way of life to readers.

Eleventh grader Chen Weiyu described the book as a travel book that reflects the author’s inner world. Chen said the book is inspiring as the author had managed to shake off culture shock and integrate into the local communities in France.

Liu Jiping, another 11th grader, said he enjoyed reading “Clouds in the Blue Sky Water in the Bottle,” which helps him improve his writing skills and guides him to find his inner heart.

“I was impressed by Shi’s literature attainment and her portrayal of stories,” Liu said.

Another 11th grader Wang Jing said he was attracted to “The Food in My Hometown and Europe” by the book’s light-hearted and humorous style. “Food in this book is depicted so delicious that I got hungry when I was reading,” Wang said.

Born in 1999, Shi grew up in Shenzhen and is a graduate of Shenzhen Hongling Middle School and Shandong University.

Shi is a member of the Guangdong Writers Association and an outstanding member of the Guangdong Provincial Communist Youth League.
