SZ to set up State innovation center
    2021-11-11  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

SHENZHEN has been approved to set up the State 5G Medium- and High-frequency Components Innovation Center, the second State-level manufacturing industry innovation center in the city, Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported yesterday.

The State 5G Medium- and High-frequency Components Innovation Center, which will be based on Shenzhen Hatchip Communication Technologies Co. Ltd., will be funded by 29 leading industrial chain companies covering sectors of communications core components, materials, antennas and terminals. The shareholders include Futian government, Leaguer, Southern University of Science and Technology and some communication enterprises.

The innovation center will focus research on new-type semiconductor materials and technologies, 5G medium- and high-frequency core components and silicon-based millimeter wave integrated chip for radio frequency front end. It will carry out common technology R&D and industrial application of research achievements through 5G technological alliance and cooperation with upstream and downstream enterprises, higher learning institutions and research institutes, and other State-level innovation platforms.

5G medium- and high-frequency component is a key field for development and is the weak point in the country’s 5G communication industry chain.

The Ministry of Information and Technology (MIT) recently approved setting up four State-level manufacturing industry innovation centers. The State 5G Medium- and High-frequency Components Innovation Center is the second State-level innovation center in Shenzhen’s manufacturing industry, following the State High-performance Medical Devices Innovation Center which was set up in Longhua District last year.

The MIT recently listed five enterprises and 14 products from Shenzhen as champions in particular sectors of the national manufacturing industry, which refers to enterprises that focus on niche markets, obtain world-leading technologies and whose products have been ranked top three in the world market.  (Han Ximin)
