THE Shenzhen delegation inked more than 100 deals totaling nearly US$2.2 billion as of Tuesday during the Fourth China International Import Expo (CIIE), which wrapped up yesterday, according to Shenzhen TV.

Shenzhen organized more than 2,000 enterprises and institutions to attend the CIIE that took place in Shanghai from Friday to yesterday.

Shenzhen enterprises actively clinched orders at this year’s import fair. Enterprises from Longgang District were excited to find ideal trade partners and procure high-quality import goods. Shenzhen Huntkey Electric Co. Ltd. in Bantian Subdistrict, the largest PC power source manufacturing base on the Chinese mainland, signed a letter of intent worth US$60 million with Japanese firm Hokkaido Daishito to purchase the latter’s industrial automation and robotic equipment.

Companies from Bao’an District, which came in as suppliers and buyers, also inked high-volume contracts at the event. Among them, Takahashi Hirokazu Shenzhen and its Japanese parent company agreed on a cooperation project for the purchase and sale of raw materials and equipment, with an annual transaction value of 240 million yuan (US$37.55 million).

Dapeng New Area organized leading companies engaged in clean energy, biotechnology and advanced manufacturing to attend the expo. Many companies, such as KNQ Technology Co. Ltd. and Shenzhen Santos Coffee Food Co. Ltd., have reached letters of intent for procurement with exhibitors.

Now in its fourth edition, the CIIE is the world’s first import-themed national-level exposition and is held annually since 2018. The fair has become a significant platform for international companies to boost exports to the massive Chinese market.

The fourth CIIE attracted nearly 3,000 companies from 127 countries and regions. A total of US$70.72 billion worth of tentative deals were reached for one-year purchases of goods and services at this year’s fair, Sun Chenghai, deputy director of the CIIE Bureau, told a press conference yesterday.
