A TOTAL of 4,492 institutions, projects and products have applied to participate in the Ninth China Charity Fair, which will be held online from Nov. 23 to 25, according to a press briefing held in Shenzhen yesterday.

The fair will go online for the first time due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We have received applications from 916 institutions, 1,339 projects and 2,237 products so far,” said Yang Haobo, deputy head of the city’s civil affairs bureau and deputy leader of the fair’s preparatory work leading group.

“At present, the organizing committee is stepping up efforts to accelerate the building of the online exhibition platform to ensure that it will run smoothly during the three-day event,” Yang said.

This year, the charity fair will focus on gathering charitable forces to help rural revitalization, and will encompass four sections, namely online exhibition, conference, matchmaking and experience.

Using 3D modeling, virtual reality and other information technologies, the online exhibition will highlight the significant contributions of numerous charitable organizations and individuals to rural revitalization and philanthropic development.

Likewise, it will concentrate on the positive outcomes of the charity sector’s organic integration with various fields such as education, environmental protection, and science and technology.

Three characteristic rural revitalization projects will be showcased at the fair, according to the organizing committee.

For instance, one of the projects will focus on presenting and promoting various intangible cultural heritage, distinctive local specialties and other handicrafts to encourage the inheritance of skills, facilitate industrial growth and help achieve common prosperity.

Another project will use multimedia resources to display and promote characteristic rural tourism resources and promote the sustainable development of the rural cultural tourism industry.

The fair will also feature several interactive multimedia technologies, as well as some entertaining projects and online interactive games, so that citizens can get more involved in charity.
