    2021-11-18  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

At OCAT Shenzhen’s “Digital Bridge — Reconnect” event running from this weekend through the end of this month, a live performance will be staged and screenings of dancing and documentaries will be shown. Tickets can be purchased via WeChat account “OCATShenzhen.”

Screenings

‘Heart Chamber Fragments’

Performers of Paper Tiger Theater Studio and Münchner Kammerspiele joined forces to conduct performative research in the labyrinthine burrow systems underneath the skin and underground, accompanied by three texts: “The Burrow” by Franz Kafka (1923), Jean-Luc Nancy’s “The Intruder” (1999) and “The Peach Blossom Spring” by Tao Yuanming 1,600 years ago.

Time: 8-10 p.m., Nov. 19 (including an online talk with creators)

‘Dirty’

“Dirty” is a virtual body dialogue between two choreographers, Dever Chan (Hong Kong) and Gong Zhonghui (Guizhou). This is a documentary that compiles Zoom conversation, voice messages, text messages and recording of dance footages shot in muddy fields, beaches, bathrooms and train tunnels. The two creators explore societal restrictions on the body while invoking the wild, animalistic origins of movement.

Time: 3-4 p.m., Nov. 21 (including a post-screening talk)

‘Studies: A Dance Cycle’

It is a dance video presented by Future Host, a performance ensemble founded by New York-based artists Tingying Ma and Kang Kang in 2016.

Time: 4-5:30 p.m., Nov. 21 (including a post-screening talk)

Venue: OCAT Shenzhen, South Area, OCT-LOFT, Nanshan District (南山区华侨城创意文化园南区OCAT深圳馆)

Metro: Line 1 to Qiaocheng East Station (侨城东站), Exit A

Live performance

‘Five Easy Pieces’

“Five Easy Pieces,” by Swiss theater director Milo Rau and his International Institute of Political Murder, is the grim tale of Belgian child murderer Marc Dutroux, controversially performed with children between the ages of 8 and 14 and listed as one of the 10 “most remarkable productions” at renowned German-language theater festival, Theatertreffen, in 2017.

Time: 7:30-9:30 p.m., Nov. 21

‘Maria Stuart’

“Maria Stuart” is a verse play by Friedrich Schiller that depicts the last days of Mary, Queen of Scots. In Anne Lenk’s production, Schiller’s duel of the queens becomes a splendidly performed portrait of two women who are both prisoners in different ways.
