Sam’s Club members

SAM’S Club, a Walmart-owned membership warehouse club, announced yesterday that the number of Sam’s Club members in China has surpassed 4 million.

Sam’s Club currently operates 36 stores in 23 cities across China and its service covers most parts of the country through e-commerce platforms. According to Walmart’s third-quarter fiscal results, the comparable store sales and membership of Sam’s Club in China achieved double-digit growth in the third quarter.

Consumer prices

PRICES of important goods in China will remain within a reasonable level, and authorities are ensuring that supplies of such products are sufficient, according to the China Development and Reform News.

China’s price levels are under control and the country won’t face a situation where costs would rise across the board, the report said. China Development and Reform News is run by the National Development and Reform Commission.

Domestic auto brands

CHINESE passenger car brands saw their share of the domestic market grow in October, according to data from an industry association.

Their sales of passenger cars accounted for 47.5 percent of all sales of such vehicles last month, up 6.2 percentage points year on year, said the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers. Their market share increased 0.6 percentage points from a month earlier, the association reported. In the first 10 months, the sales of passenger cars of Chinese brands jumped 28.1 percent year on year.
