The 2021 China-ASEAN Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Workshop, aimed at helping teachers, executives, and officials from ASEAN countries learn about China’s e-commerce experience, was held in Shenzhen Institute of Information Technology (SZIIT) from November 18 to 19.

Over 180 invited guests at home and from 68 overseas vocational schools included in the China-ASEAN higher vocational college special cooperation project as well as other recommended vocational colleges attended the workshop either at SZIIT’s Longgang campus or via online channels.

The lecturers of the workshop are professors and renowned e-business representatives in China. They shared their experiences with livestreaming, e-commerce and marketing in China, and the operation and promotion of online shops via various forms such as case studies, themed lectures and workshops.

During the two-day workshop, lecturers also discussed with participants from ASEAN countries about integration of e-commerce education and the industry, cross-border e-commerce and digitalization in the post-pandemic era.

Foreign guests showed deep interest in contents presented during the workshop and some of them expressed a willingness to cooperate with Chinese counterparts.

At the opening ceremony, Wang Hui, president of SZIIT, introduced Shenzhen’s economic advantages and SZIIT’s e-commerce major, and called for organizations from ASEAN countries to collaborate with SZIIT in vocational education.

Wang Yongli, secretary general of the China Education Association for International Exchange, stressed at the ceremony the significance of education cooperation between China and ASEAN and hoped that the workshop could help everyone learn more about international experience about the integration of industry and vocational education, further develop China-ASEAN e-commerce cooperation, and deepen China-ASEAN exchanges and cooperation in vocational education.

Other officials and leaders from the Ministry of Education, Embassy of Cambodia, Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia and Royal Thai Embassy in China, and ASEAN-China Center attended the opening ceremony.

The workshop was organized by the China Education Association for International Exchange and ASEAN-China Center, and was hosted by SZIIT.
