Carbon capture tech

CHINA is outpacing its rivals in the race to develop new carbon capture technologies, as it pushes forwards with plans to achieve carbon neutrality before 2060, The Times newspaper has reported.

In the last financial year, China generated 81 percent of all new carbon capture patents registered, making it by far the world’s largest producer of new carbon capture technologies, the London-based newspaper quoted an analysis from BDO, one of the world’s largest accounting and consulting networks, as saying. In the second place, the United States produced 9 percent of all new carbon capture patents.

Affordable housing

SHANGHAI will cap rental increases for low-cost housing at 5 percent per year, to officially limit how fast rents can climb in the city.

Rents for affordable housing should also be no more than 90 percent of the rental value of other housing types in the same location, Shanghai Vice Mayor Tang Zhiping said Tuesday.

Import partner

CHINA remained Germany’s biggest import partner for consumer electronics between January and September this year, accounting for 39.2 percent of total imports, Germany’s Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) said Tuesday.

Around half of all consumer electronics devices imported into Germany came from Asia.
