PROFESSORS from Shenzhen University, the Southern University of Science and Technology and the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen (CUHK-SZ) were on global scientific and academic research analytics firm Clarivate’s 2021 list of Highly Cited Researchers released recently.

Their names appeared on the list 23 times in total in different research categories. CUHK-SZ’s Tang Benzhong was included in the list twice for chemistry and material science, respectively.

Zhang Dapeng and Huang Hsien-Da are two more CUHK-SZ professors on the list, in addition to Tang. Zhang and Tang have been named as highly cited researchers for eight straight years, according to CUHK-SZ.

This year, Clarivate named 6,602 researchers from more than 70 countries and regions in 21 science and social science fields, and cross-field categories.

It is said that the Chinese mainland has the second most highly cited researchers globally this year, hitting a record high.

Among all global organizations, Harvard University has the most highly cited researchers, followed by the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

The annual list selects the world’s top 1 percent of researchers through a comprehensive data analysis, based on the publication of multiple highly cited papers within the last decade.
