Projects worth over $91b signed at convention

A TOTAL of 703 projects with an aggregate investment outlay of 582.18 billion yuan (US$91.1 billion) have been inked at the fourth World Manufacturing Convention recently held in Hefei, capital of East China’s Anhui Province.

The four-day event, which concluded on Nov. 22 and is themed “Innovation-Driven, Digitally Empowered: Global Manufacturing Industry Aligned for High-quality Growth,” aimed at promoting high-quality manufacturing and deepen exchanges between China and the rest of the world.

Among the projects signed at the convention, there are 656 manufacturing projects worth 533.49 billion yuan. A total of 167 projects signed are worth over 1 billion yuan each while seven projects are worth over 10 billion yuan each.

Coal transportation by rail, ship surges

THE volume of coal transported by trains and ships in China saw a surge in October and November amid the country’s solid efforts to ensure stability in coal supply during this winter, official data showed.

On average, about 86,300 trains loaded with coal had departed from local areas in China every day from Nov. 1 to 15, marking an increase of around 10,000 trains, or 13.5 percent from last year, data from the China State Railway Group Co., Ltd. showed.

During the period, the daily average number of trains loaded with thermal coal reached approximately 62,900, surging 31.8 percent from the same period last year, according to the data.

Summit for entrepreneurs across Taiwan Strait

THE 2021 Zijinshan Summit for Entrepreneurs across the Taiwan Strait will take place on Dec. 7 in the city of Nanjing in Jiangsu Province, a mainland spokesperson said Wednesday.

The summit will be held online and offline, with venues in both Nanjing and Taipei, said Zhu Fenglian, a spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, during a press conference.

Themed “Follow the new pattern and share new opportunities,” the event will look into topics concerning how entrepreneurs across the Strait can seize opportunities from the mainland’s pursuit of high-quality development to further their exchanges and cooperation for greater development of their business, according to Zhu.

The 2021 city forum of Shanghai and Taipei, Zhu said, will be held on Dec. 1 via video link.
