Yong-jun Yeo, Gounee Yang Global Economic News MAJOR South Korean telecom services provider KT Corp. will extend the strategic partnership with China Mobile and Japan’s NTT Docomo by five years and further strengthen cooperation among them. The three companies will maintain their partnership until 2027, five years after the existing agreement expires in January 2022. This is the third extension of the partnership following 2014 and 2017. The three companies have been actively cooperating in various fields such as apps, contents, 5G, IoT networks, AI and roaming. For the IoT business, KT and NTT Docomo signed a contract to launch and commercialize Renault Samsung’s connected car service in May 2019 and have steadily held discussions to differentiate services. In 2017, they established the AI task force to share best practices in the AI fields. For the marketing, the three companies have continued exchanges by sharing each country’s mobile market environment and strategies. |
