THE highly-anticipated Italian Serie A fixture between Inter Milan and Roma on Saturday turned out to be one-sided, as the Nerazzurri won 3-0 away including a Hakan Calhanoglu’s magic, hammering the capital team led by Inter’s former coach Jose Mourinho. Calhanoglu, former Roma forward Edin Dzeko and Denzel Dumfries scored in the first half. It was the first time in Mourinho’s career that one of his teams was down 3-0 in the first half. Inter climbed to second place in the table, one point below Milan after the Rosssoneri beat Sallernitana 2-0 to climb to the top. Napoli could return as the leader if the side beats Atalanta later. Mourinho led Inter to triple trophies in Serie A, the Italian Cup and the Champions League in 2010. He took over the Rome tents before the start of this campaign. Roma has lost four of its last six league games. Inter opened the account when Calhanoglu scored directly from a corner kick. The lead doubled in the 24th minute. Calhanoglu moved from the right and delayed a ball that Dzeko shot into the upper corner. The Nerazzurri had the result virtually assured for the break, after Alessandro Bastoni unleashed a cross from the left that Dumfries finished off with a diving header.(SD-Agencies) |
