GBA&SZ youth tennis competition wraps up
    2021-12-14  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

MORE than 120 players from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) participated in the finals of the GBA&SZ youth tennis competition at Mission Hills Shenzhen on Saturday and Sunday.

After two days of competition, Xiang Qi won the U18 men's singles champion, while Guo Ziyang won the U18 women’s event.

Tang Yupeng and Li Jiarong won the U14 titles, Li Xiang and Tang Yiding won the U12 singles titles, and the U10 titles went to Chen Changxin and Zhang Yelei.

This event is the first U-series tennis points competition in Shenzhen.

The young players gave up their holidays and weekends to participate in the competition’s three stops, which lasted for six months. Sometimes, the games won’t be over until late at night, but the enthusiasm was very high for the players and their accompanying parents.

A player surnamed Wu from Foshan said: "A few years ago, I won the third place at the Becker Cup held by Mission Hills. I like this event very much. Now I think I learned something from every game. I look forward to competing again next year!"

Organizers said this year’s event attracted about 600 participants, and they are looking forward to the rising of future tennis stars from the event.(Windy Shao)
