Guangdong’s foreign trade up 17.4%

FOREIGN trade in southern China’s Guangdong Province rose 17.4 percent year on year in the first 11 months of the year, according to figures released by the provincial customs authority.

As China’s major foreign trade hub, Guangdong’s foreign trade volume hit 7.5 trillion yuan (US$1.2 trillion) in the first 11 months, up from last year’s 7.1 trillion yuan. Among them, exports grew 17.4 percent to 4.6 trillion yuan, while imports also registered a 17.4-percent year-on-year increase to 2.9 trillion yuan.

Exports of Christmas products via Horgos jump

HORGOS port, a border port in northwestern China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, has handled a surging amount of Christmas products on China-Europe freight trains this year, according to the port’s customs.

Official figures show that the port has exported Christmas products worth 298 million yuan (US$46.6 million) since the beginning of this year, an increase of 97 percent year on year. The peak season of Christmas products export at the port began at the end of July and lasted through November. Christmas products exported in September reached about 90 million yuan.

SF Airlines expands fleet to meet demand

SF Airlines, China’s largest air cargo carrier, has expanded its all-cargo freighter fleet to 68 to serve logistics demand during the upcoming logistics peak in Spring Festival, according to the cargo airline.

A B767-300 widebody all-cargo freighter joined the SF Airlines fleet, supporting the Shenzhen-based airline to strengthen delivery capacities on the international air routes and during the logistics peak, said the cargo airline. By now, SF Airlines has established a global air cargo network with 84 destinations at home and abroad by its freighter fleet with short, medium and long haul range carrying capacities.

More than 1.3 million 5G base stations launched

CHINA has launched more than 1.3 million 5G base stations so far amid the country’s efforts to expand its 5G network coverage, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).

To date, the number of 5G users in China has reached 497 million, MIIT Minister Xiao Yaqing said Monday. In 2022, the country will further boost its information and communication technologies and boost the construction of 5G services and gigabit fiber optic networks in a stable and orderly way, Xiao added.
