Wutong Mountain’s 17 roads, scenic spots to be renamed
    2021-12-23  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE names of 17 roads and scenic spots in the Wutong Mountain Scenic Area will be changed after a name suggestion event wrapped up, the Shenzhen Municipal Planning and Natural Resources Bureau said recently.

According to the bureau, the Hero Slope observation deck, the best place to admire the city’s magnificent views, will be renamed “Xiaofenglanyun” (meaning blow with the wind and reach for the moon), while the Hero Slope observation corridor will be renamed Buyun Corridor (meaning corridor over clouds).

Butterfly Valley Corridor will be renamed as “Piaofengzinan” (meaning winds from the south). The name, which originated from “The Book of Songs,” the earliest collection of poems in China, implies that Shenzhen’s reform and opening up are just like the spring breeze from South China.

Lesser Wutong Square Corridor will be renamed as Qifeng Corridor to match Lesser Wutong’s Qifeng Pavilion.

Other scenic spots confirmed for a name change also include several flower viewing areas.

Wutong Mountain South Road and Wutong Mountain North Road, however, will keep their original names, according to the bureau.

At 943.7 meters high, Wutong Mountain is the tallest mountain in Shenzhen. (Wang Jingli)
