
JEAN-MARC VALLÉE, known for directing such films as “Dallas Buyers Club” and “Wild” and the HBO series “Big Little Lies,” has died. He was 58. Producing partner Nathan Ross confirmed his death in a statement. Details were not immediately disclosed. “Jean-Marc stood for creativity, authenticity and trying things differently,” the statement read. “He was a true artist and a generous, loving guy. Everyone who worked with him couldn’t help but see the talent and vision he possessed. He was a friend, creative partner and an older brother to me. The maestro will sorely be missed but it comforts knowing his beautiful style and impactful work he shared with the world will live on.” Vallée’s 2013 film “Dallas Buyers Club” earned six Academy Award nominations, including best picture, and led to wins for stars Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto.
