SZU choir creates song for Beijing Winter Olympics
    2021-12-29  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A song created by the international choir of Shenzhen University (SZU) has been chosen as a tribute to the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported.

The song, titled “When the Ice Is Shining,” was composed by the choir’s director Shin Moon-sub with lyrics written by Zhang Haomiao. It conveys the song creators’ best wishes for the Beijing Winter Olympics and all competing athletes, as well as their expectations for long-lasting friendships among the countries and regions across the world.

The music video of the song, which features piano accompaniment, narrates a story from the perspective of an Olympian who fights for himself and his country at the Winter Olympics with strong belief. It also features athletes from different countries gathering and celebrating at the Olympics.

The video has been selected as an official tribute to the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics by the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges of the Ministry of Education and the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE).

In addition, the song has also won multiple awards. At the 4th Award Ceremony of Silk Road & Yougn Dreams, the song claimed first prize, and the choir was named the best choir. Additionally, the music video has won the “Best Chinese Music Video Award” of the 2021 “Sing & Learn Chinese” global cultural program.

At the beginning, the production of the music video was challenged by a tight budget. It was with the support of the College of International Exchange of Shenzhen University that the team managed to complete the production.
