Angela Tian A phone with a different SIM card, it is still a phone. What about humans? With different characteristics, different memories, different experiences, is that person still the same person? After reformatting, a computer reviews its old memory card. It is still a computer. After losing memory, though, and a person interprets one’s consciousness with different emotions, different understandings, will everything still be the same? I could argue both ways, but is there an answer? If they are the same person, with different emotions, different perspectives, different personalities, different actions, different values, maybe even looking differently, how can someone agree they are the same person? If they are not the same person, what happens? Does one replace oneself? Funny wording, at the same time a little pathetic. A new life form, gradually or instantly, replaces the old one. After learning from the previous memory, a different attitude develops. Isn’t this happening every moment? Do degrees and speed play a role? Are they the same? |
