Huang Yixin, Class 7, Senior 1, Shenzhen Xin’an Middle School Instructed by Tang Ying Last week, our school held a sports meeting. It was the first time that I had been able to take part in a sports meeting during my senior high year and I was very excited. On Wednesday, we had the opening ceremony, and what impressed me most was the fancy running exercise performance done by senior students. On Thursday and Friday, we had various track and field races. I focused my eyes on my class’ athletes’ races. What impressed me most was a boy who fell down and his right leg was injured, but he still finished the rest of the race. While standing near the finish line, I was moved deeply by his spirit when I saw him dragging his heavy feet to arrive at the finish line and receive the first prize. It was my honor to participate in a race. To be honest, I was a little nervous. I took part in the 4x100m relay race and I ran the third baton. After I started to run, I heard some loud voices shouting, “Huang Yixin, come on!” At the beginning I kept running as fast as I could. However, I felt tired when I was half way. Just then, I heard a voice behind me, “Don’t be anxious and change your breath.” These words eased my anxiety and gave me strength in the race. I dragged my feet to the finish line step by step. Eventually, I arrived at the finish line out of breath. After the race, I heard the news that my team won second prize. A glow of happiness spread on our faces. Through this sports meeting, I realized that we should never give up no matter what happens. Whenever you want to give up, please remember to move on and achieve your goal. |
