‘Happy Camp’ replaced by ‘Hello Saturday’
    2021-12-31  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

“HAPPY Camp,” one of the most popular entertainment shows on Hunan Satellite TV, will be replaced by the brand-new “Hello Saturday” show starting Jan. 1, according to the TV station’s official Weibo account.

He Jiong, one of the five hosts of “Happy Camp,” will host “Hello Saturday,” with actress Ada Choi, crosstalk performer Qin Xiaoxian, actor Wang Hedi and rapper Bridge (Cheng Jianqiao) as guest hosts. The new show will be aired at 8:10 p.m. every Saturday.

Hunan Satellite TV didn’t disclose the content of “Hello Saturday,” only saying they will produce “quality shows which are upbeat and favored by the public.”

The last episode of “Happy Camp” was aired Oct. 2 and the TV station didn’t say why the 24-year-old show was canceled or what other four hosts of “Happy Camp,” Xie Na, Wu Xin, Li Weijia and Du Haitao, would do in the future.

“Happy Camp,” launched in July 1997, has enjoyed great popularity among young Chinese audience members over the past two decades since it could not only gather famous singers and actors but also try to keep abreast with the times. Multiple forms, including debates, talk shows and singing contests, had been integrated into the program in recent years.(Cao Zhen)
