Young rapper interviews football star and inspires fans
    2022-01-19  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Upcoming U.S. rapper Young Dylan made an unusual appearance on an NFL broadcast on Sunday: He interviewed the football stars after the game. And did it so well that many fans want more of it.

Dylan Gilmer may only be 12 years old, but he is already a young star among American teenagers: He plays the leading role in the series “Young Dylan” and also appears as a rapper under the same name. Now Gilmer also had his first appearance as a television reporter. He was allowed to interview the players at the game in the U.S. professional football league NFL between the San Francisco 49ers and the Dallas Cowboys.

Admittedly, the up-and-coming rapper didn’t necessarily follow the rule that the interviewee and the topic should be in the foreground and not the interviewer himself. He did his job with so much wit and enthusiasm that not only young viewers enjoyed it.

49ers player Deebo Samuel couldn’t help but smile when asked by Gilmer about his strong performance. The wide receiver contributed a touchdown and 100 yards to his team’s 23-17 win. Young Gilmer asked him about the different roles he’d played in and what went through his mind once it was clear his team was going to win.

Not particularly deep questions, but the young interviewer still won the hearts of the audience. It’s nice to see a football star talking to someone different than usual, wrote one journalist. Many fans on Twitter were also impressed by the performance. “The boy did a great job, he has a great future ahead of him,” praised one user.

“I want to see more interviews from him,” wished another fan. So nothing stands in the way of Gilmer’s next appearance as a football reporter.

Gilmer joined the host of “The Tonight Show” in October last year and showed off his infectious personality and his rap skills as one of the hosts of the new “The Kids Tonight Show” that started streaming in the same month.

In the “Tonight” show, Gilmer joined fellow hosts Recker Eans, Mykal-Michelle Harris and Olivia Perez to deliver monologues, interview guests, play games and completely run the show.

Gilmer is an aspiring hip-hop artist who goes by the name Young Dylan, and he already stars in his own Nickelodeon comedy series, “Tyler Perry’s Young Dylan.” He also has previously appeared on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” and “America’s Got Talent.”

The preteen from Annapolis, Maryland, went from viral videos online to appearances on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.” Now, he has three shows on television, all while going to school.

Young Dylan, as he’s known, was the rap name bestowed on him by his dad, the precocious entertainer told Ellen in September 2016. In the interview, he told Ellen part of his motivation to be a rapper is to have 300 mansions when he grows up. One will be for him, one for his parents, and the rest will be used as an orphanage and for poor people to use.

The boy’s parents created a “Young Dylan” Instagram page to display his rapping skills, which caught the attention of “Ellen” producers, the newspaper reported. Now almost 398,000 followers of Young Dylan on Instagram can watch his videos as he puts his own spin on hip-hop songs.
