Stranded people well-cared for in community
    2022-01-20  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE 12 people who have been stranded at Caopuxi Community in Luohu District over a week ago are being well-cared for at Caopu Primary School’s gymnasium, Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported yesterday.

“Beds, quilts, winter clothes, toiletries and even portable chargers are available. We are very satisfied with the living conditions here,” one of the stranded people, surnamed Xie, told an officer from the CPC Luohu District Committee’s organization department who came to visit them Tuesday.

The 12 people got stranded in the community’s epidemic-related control area for various reasons, and they do not live in the community.

Xie recalled, “I have to pass through Zhangshe Village on my way home, but I didn’t expect to be trapped there.”

The village was cordoned off on the evening of Jan. 10, as it was part of the tracks of one confirmed COVID case previously reported in Luohu. The village was designated as a control area in the district the following day.

According to the Daily, the other people stranded like Xie included those who were exercising, dining and delivering meals near the village that evening. They were first taken to the Caopuxi community health center, where nucleic acid tests were arranged for them.

“There were quite a few stranded people, and they were very tired,” an officer was quoted as saying. “We took them to the community health center to rest and then coordinated with relevant departments to help them settle in Caopu Primary School’s gymnasium.”

“The community workers offered us shared portable chargers, making sure we can charge our phones whenever we want, communicate with our families and get information from the outside,” Xie said, adding that he was looking forward to the day when the lockdown is lifted.
