Festive lights adorn 3 Futian spots
    2022-02-08  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

VARIOUS shapes of festival lights ranging from astronauts, tigers, fish, butterflies, swans and crabs adorn Futian District’s Civic Park, Xiangmi Park and Huaqianbei Pedestrian Street until Feb. 20.

Civic Park, located in the south square of Civic Center, is the main light show venue that features more diverse designs than the other two venues. An array of astronaut-shaped lights, an expression of Chinese national pride, is one of the most popular installations that passers-by take photos with. Lights showing an adorable kid holding lotus flowers and a big fish symbolize that the fortune and abundance of food we had will continue in the coming year. A fascinating and playful distortion mirror and a clown-shaped light provide children lots of fun.

Despite using a lot of cutting-edge technologies, many lights are largely inspired by the natural world, featuring recreations of a bonfire and butterflies at Civic Park, mantises, dragonflies and crickets at Xiangmi Park, and crabs, shrimps and fish at Huaqiangbei Pedestrian Street.

Likewise, don’t miss checking out a pair of elegant swan-shaped lights on a lake in Xiangmi Park, a romantic place for couples to pledge their love as Futian’s marriage registration office is located inside the park. At Huaqiangbei Pedestrian Street, try to interact with some cute little “tigers.” The tigers run upon inserting a token, wishing people blessings, and all proceeds will be donated to Shenzhen Red Cross Society.
