The average annual salary of the 2021 graduates of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen (CUHK-SZ), who are the fourth batch of graduates from the university, reached 162,600 yuan (US$25,577), hitting a record high.

The figure was up 7.68 percent compared to the situation of graduates in 2020. The average annual salary of the fresh graduates from the School of Data Science of CUHK-SZ reached nearly 180,000 yuan, according to a graduate employment report released by CUHK-SZ on Monday.

The employment rate of the graduates was 95.52 percent in general. More than 70 percent of the graduates decided to further their studies and have been admitted to top universities around the globe such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University of Cambridge, and Harvard University.

Among the graduate students intending to earn a master’s degree, around 33.77 percent of them selected universities in the U.S. while 19.18 percent of them chose universities in Hong Kong.

About 25.03 percent of the graduates chose to work after graduation. About 71.59 percent of those students were employed by global 500 companies, China’s top 500 companies, listed companies or multinational companies such as Amazon, Alibaba and CICC.

In addition, over 90 percent of them picked job opportunities in cities including Shenzhen, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Hangzhou, Chongqing, Suzhou, Wuhan, Changsha, Dongguan and Foshan, according to the report.
