SZ firm helps provide best air for the Games
    2022-02-18  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

AMID the ongoing Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games, Shenzhen’s air disinfection and purification solution provider Kangfeng has brought its latest devices to help reduce the potential for airborne transmission of COVID-19 in the Games’ sports stadiums, Shenzhen Economic Daily reported.

Longgang-based Shenzhen Kangfeng Air Purification Technology Co. specifically designed three types of high-air-volume air disinfectant and purifier devices for the Games and the devices made their debut at the Games.

The company’s air disinfectant-purifier jet machines with an air volume of 20,000 cubic meters per hour have been adopted in many Olympic venues, including the Winter Sports Management Center of the General Administration of Sport of China, also dubbed as “Ice Altar,” the Capital Indoor Stadium and an air-supported stadium in Chengde, Hebei Province.

Kangfeng’s other two device types have also been widely used in athletes’ dormitories, press conference halls and athletes’ training venues.

These products utilize the core material AOP-KF solid alkali, which was independently developed by Kangfeng and has been patented in China and the U.S. Compared to other materials applied for air disinfection and purification, like activated charcoal, Kangfeng’s material boasts higher efficiency in removing pathogenic microorganisms, such as viruses, bacteria and fungi, as well as gaseous pollutants, like formaldehyde, from the air.

With Kangfeng’s devices in operation for three days, in a static environment, the average colonies forming units per cubic meter of air in 13 testing points reached 13 in “Ice Altar” stadium, which was the best air quality a large indoor space could achieve in the world, according to the Daily.

Since October 2020, Kangfeng has started building a pandemic prevention demonstration base in “Ice Altar.” The air disinfection and purification processes are visible and controllable, which can effectively prevent the potential cross-infection of respiratory infectious diseases. The solution is the world’s first of this kind, the Daily reported.

In addition, during the Games, Chinese athletes have also worn Kangfeng’s AOP-KF anti-virus and infection masks. Unlike the ordinary masks, this kind of mask adds an extra layer of AOP-KF solid alkali cloth, which has a 99-plus-percent inactivation rate for virus and 99.31 percent for coronavirus.
