Infrastructure projects

THE country will accelerate the construction of major new infrastructure projects, support telecom operators to speed up 5G construction and help industrial enterprises advance digital transformation, according to a circular released Friday.

The circular on policies to promote the steady growth of the economy was issued by 12 central departments including the National Development and Reform Commission. The country will accelerate the construction of eight national computing hubs amid its efforts to channel more computing resources from the country’s eastern regions to its less developed yet resource-rich western regions.

Trading partner

FOR the sixth year in a row, China was Germany’s most important trading partner in 2021, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) said Friday.

Total foreign trade revenues between Germany and China increased by 15.1 percent year on year, as goods worth 245.4 billion euros (US$279.1 billion) were traded between the countries in 2021, according to preliminary results by Destatis. The Netherlands and the United States followed second and third, with trade revenues of 206.1 billion euros and 194.1 billion euros, respectively, according to Destatis. After the slumps in the first COVID-19 crisis year of 2020, growing by 20.1 and 13.4 percent, respectively.

Cold-chain logistics

THE government has issued a plan to accelerate the development of cold-chain logistics for farm produce storage and transportation during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025).

During the period, 100 cold-chain logistics hubs for agricultural products and 200 cold-chain logistics centers in cities will be built nationwide, according to a plan released by the All-China Federation of Supply and Marketing Cooperatives.
