On Feb. 4, the highly anticipated opening ceremony of the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022 officially began. People from all over the world gathered in the Bird’s Nest to enjoy this spectacular feast together. Meanwhile, Beijing has become the first city in the world hosting both the Summer and Winter Olympic Games.

The opening ceremony of the 2022 Winter Olympics shocked the world again after the last Beijing Olympics in 2008, which allowed more foreigners know China, not only Chinese traditional culture but also Chinese spirit.

From the countdown of the 24 solar terms to the breaking of the ice of the Five Rings to the lighting of the torch, China no longer introduced to the world what it was like in the past, but showed the confidence and aesthetics of being a big country. First, the countdown used the 24 solar terms and corresponding English words in a display that represented the details of Chinese traditional culture. This Winter Olympics is the 24th session, began on Feb. 4 at 20:04, and the Chinese team came out at 21:24, a number which represents the romance and aesthetics of Chinese people. When “I and My Motherland” sounded, the five-star national flag was handed from children to representatives of the 56 ethnic groups in China, symbolizing the unity of 56 ethnic groups and the common formation of the People’s Republic of China.

Finally, when the torchbearers arrived at the final stop, placing the torch in the middle of the snowflake made up of the names of the world’s competing delegations, people were shocked. This is not only low-carbon and environmentally friendly but also demonstrates that China is committed to building a community of a shared future for humankind. In the welcome ceremony, 782 volunteers from Tsinghua University danced with enthusiasm. They showed the new looks and spirits of China’s youth.
