Brighten your weekend with a colorful visit
    2022-04-01  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

AS commonly seen flowers in China, the rhododendrons not only decorate the spring scenery but are also admired in ancient and modern Chinese poems, thanks to their charming beauty. Now more than 100,000 trees of rhododendron moulmainense are in full blossom on Wutong Mountain where an annual flower fair is being held through mid-April.

According to the Seventh Rhododendron Moulmainense Fair of Wutong Mountain profile, an ecological conservation of rhododendrons has been carried out for more than 10 years in the mountain and over 700 species have been introduced. Rhododendron moulmainense on Wutong Mountain is the world’s only native highland rhododendron grown in a metropolis. The landscape of the brightly colored flowers has made the mountain a landmark in Shenzhen every spring.

Visitors have easy access to climb the mountain via various trails after they get off the Metro at the Wutong Mountain South, Haishan or Shenwai Senior Campus stations. All visitors must show their negative nucleic acid test results issued within 48 hours.

You are also invited to attend a photo or short video contest organized by the mountain; details of the contest with cash prizes can be found on the WeChat account “梧桐山风景区”; the submission deadline is April 13.
