A FLORIDA man has reclaimed his Guinness World Record title for most cinema productions attended of the same film.

Ramiro Alanis, from the Tampa suburb of Riverview, watched “Spider-Man: No Way Home” 292 times between Dec. 16, 2021, and March 15, 2022, according to Guinness.

Factoring in the length of the movie, which runs 2 hours, 28 minutes — plus coming attractions and the inevitable commercials before the main feature — Alanis sat in a theater for 720 hours, or 30 days.

It is the second time Alanis has held the Guinness mark. In 2019 he watched “Avengers: Endgame” 191 times, but that record was topped in 2021 by Arnaud Klein, of Reims, France, who watched “Kaamelott: First Instalment” 204 times. Alanis actually watched the “Avengers” movie 202 times, but 11 viewings were disqualified because he took bathroom breaks, Guinness said.

“That may seem harsh, but bladder control is an important skill to have when attempting records,” Guinness said in a 2021 news release.

Alanis’ first record-breaking effort topped the mark of Australia’s Joanne Connor, who watched “Bohemian Rhapsody” 108 times in early 2019, Guinness said.

Guinness’ rules for achieving the record are clear. A person must watch the movie independently of any other activity. In other words, no scrolling on his cellphone, no bathroom breaks and no naps during the film. In addition, the film must be watched to its completion, including the credits. Alanis, as a Marvel movie fan, already knew to leave since there are always post-credits scenes.

His attendance had to be verified with a ticket stub and a statement from a theater attendant after each viewing, according to Guinness.

For the first few weeks of his latest attempt, Alanis watched five back-to-back screenings each day, CNN reported.

Alanis did not keep track of how much money he spent on tickets during his recent record-breaking run, but he estimated it to be approximately US$3,400, according to Guinness.

Alanis said he chased the record to honor his late grandmother, Juany, Guinness said.

“She was my No. 1 supporter and I want to remain the record holder,” Alanis said in the news release.

Alanis said he enjoys all three actors who have played Spider-Man and even met Tom Holland, but said his favorite version of the character was “Andrew Garfield and his redemption arc.” (SD-Agencies)
